Why does the world still listen to, work with, and revere R. Kelly, to the tune of 150 million dollars???
I am disgusted, and if you’re anything like me you’re more than likely upset, confused, distressed about this also. Who in the world is still backing R. Kelly? How did he ever get let off from his very first crime; forging a young up and coming singer, Aaliyah’s age so he could marry her? She was fifteen, he was twenty-seven? How did that not end up in a jail sentence? And this was just the beginning of his abuse of power over young black girls. Since 1991, and ongoing, to even today, R. Kelly has been brainwashing, abusing, raping, and buying women’s silence.
So what gives? How does a known rapist, pedophile continue to get away with this blatant disregard for women, and the law?
How does the law continue to protect those, who I wrote about just recently, expertly navigate the hairy line of breaking it so beautifully.
More importantly, who are the people who continue to work with this pervert? As recent as 2014 Lady Gaga, feminist to end all feminists, sexual assault advocate, and champion of all things women collaborated on a song with him. I had no idea. I’m stunned, and disappointed. I mean, you would have to be living under a rock to not know about him and his checkered past. Just because a man has not been found guilty in a court of law, the countless civil lawsuits that have been settled out of court in tandem with confidentially agreements should be enough to keep a woman like Gaga far from a person like R. Kelly. Yet for some reason it did not.
The next question on my mind is how is that parents willingly, knowingly allow their underage daughters to “hang out” with him to pursue their musical aspirations??? I mean, come on parents, google him the same way I did. Within a few minutes you’ll not only NOT allow your not even legal aged daughters anywhere near him, you may even go one step further to protect them by getting a restraining order against him. Because from what I can tell about him, it seems like the younger they are, the better for him.
I just don’t get it. Why would any parent allow their child anywhere near this guy? The odds are heavily stacked against your daughter’s safety, never mind the chances that he’s really going to make her the next Beyonce as slim to none. Run for the hills parents, and girls. Maybe they young girls think “they’ve got this” as young, invincible, confident beings. Perhaps they feel they have real talent, so a little bit of sex in trade for the chance at a shot of the career of a lifetime is worth it. I mean it probably beats having sex with teenage boys who can only go a couple of minutes while they keep their sweat socks on. I’m not trying to make light of sexual assault against a minor, I’m trying to put myself in the shoes of fourteen-seventeen year old girls who are getting mixed up with this guy. (Parents are kidding themselves if they don’t believe that a large percentage of teens in that age range are regularly engaging in some form of sex act. The age of kids starting oral sex is getting younger and younger.) I can’t even with that, and thank God every day that I’m way on the other side of all of this stuff, but my point is; maybe just maybe young girls think it is a small price to pay for a potentially huge pay out. After all they’ve grown up on a steady stream of watching incredibly young girls turn mediocre talent into huge careers, and even larger bank accounts.
I can’t begin to understand the logic behind the young girls and the families who allow this sick, and twisted criminal near them, anymore than I can fathom why R. Kelly is the way he is. Nor do I understand why any woman, such as his lawyer would take on a case like this, and claim he is the victim in all of this.
Oh what a world we live in.
One thing I know for sure is if every single artist who has a collaboration with him were to remove those songs from their musically libraries, refusing to sell them or allow them to be played on radio or anywhere, his money would dry up. If his money dried up then his fame, notoriety and access to be able to abuse copious amounts of young girls would go away as well.
But sadly, the entertainment industry doesn’t work that way, men who abuse women for sport are allowed to continue on; as long as they entertain the masses. Just ask Chris Brown.
