Where is the love? Where is Peace?? Where is Humanity???

Early on the morning of December 15th, 2016 our incredible, magical, intelligent beautiful youngest daughter arrived home for the holidays, safe and sound. Healthy and free.

On Wednesday December 21st 2016, our firey, brave, sensitive, beautiful middle girl will arrive here, in Toronto to celebrate Christmas, safe and sound. Healthy and free.

Tonight, Friday December 16th 2016, our fierce, strong, brilliant eldest daughter; the one who picked us first; the one who decided we all needed to be a family and brought us all together became engaged, safe and sound. Healthy and free.

I am beyond thankful for all the blessings this wonderful world has bestowed upon me, Yannick, our three daughters. I feel so grateful that my heart is on the verge of exploding. I want to cry with joy, I want to sing and dance and shout at the top of my lungs my immense gratitude.

And then I read the headlines, I watch the videos of all the women who’s children will never be safe again. The young children who will not have another Christmas, another hug, another laugh or smile due to the war in Aleppo and I want to die from my broken heart. The weight of my deep sorrow for all the lives lost, all the pain that other mothers are suffering with tonight, is so heavy on my spirit that I honestly don’t want to allow myself the luxury of my blessings.

I sit here feeling powerless, surrounded by the sounds of Christmas, the happiness of the season yet, my heart aches, my soul bleeds. I have no words, so I will let the powerful, thoughtful words of Lenny Kravitz speak for me.

Come on people
It’s time to get together
It’s time for the revolution!

Here is once again in our face
Why haven’t we learn from our past
We’re at the crossroads of our human race
Why are we kicking our own ass

We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
And We want it fast

We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
And We want it fast

We’re on the eve of destruction my friends
We are about to go too far
Politicians think that war is the way
But we know that love has the power

We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
And We want it fast

We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
And We want it fast

The solution is simple and fast
There won’t be peace if we don’t try
In a war there is nothing to gain
When so many people will die

We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
We want it yes
We want peace
And We want it fast

Please God, Universe, all the powers that be, please, please, please bring peace to the people of Aleppo.
