Love is love, is love. Unless it is a Republican Governor from New Jersey who wants to make marrying children legal.
Okay, what a day. Days like today, are when I’m most proud to be Canadian. Our open hearts, our logical approach to pretty much everything, and the fact that for the most part, we’re open minded are all amazing qualities to possess. We’re also polite enough to know that it’s none of our business who people love, unless the love is unwanted, or abusive, then, we, well most of us, have a lot to say. I for certain always have a lot to say about people not being allowed to love other adults, and I have even stronger opinions about the idea that adults should be allowed to “love” children is a HUGE ISSUE, that needs to be challenged and shut down, for the sake of the children.
First off, when are we going to get to the point on this incredible planet, where we all agree, that love is love is love. Regardless of race or gender, isn’t it just a wonderful thing to find love, with a consenting adult, not a child like that Republican Governor of New Jersey wants to make legal. I’m not talking about that sort of love. I’m talking about same sex love being no different than opposite sex love. Sorry. But there are no laws on this earth that will ever get me to change my mind, my views, and my very loud/strong opinion on this matter.
I’m happy that today is International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia, but the fact that we need these sort of days at all, still blows my mind, and breaks my heart. Hearing that a Sharia court will be publicly lashing two gay men, repulses me. No wonder people want to come to Canada. It is one thing to disagree with who other’s love, but to cause them bodily harm, and injury under the LAW because of it, is unbelievable to me. We have a law to punish adults who love other adults, but not adults who want to have the right to marry children?? Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.
This sort of reaction always makes me wonder; “what are all these people so afraid of?” What about people being in love with another person is anybody else’s business, when we’re talking consenting adults? The short answer is that it really isn’t.
The other thing that crosses my mind when I read articles like this is; “most of these people who want to cause harm to same sex couples, are the same people who want laws put in place so that they can marry children.”
Hmmm.
For me, I think the people that want to be able to have sex with kids, under the guise of “religious freedom” are the fucking people we should all be lashing in a public square. But hey, maybe that’s just me. Two consenting adults having sex with each other, however they like to have sex is more than fine with me. And even if I don’t like some sex acts, doesn’t mean it’s my job to tell other people to not perform those sex acts in their own bedrooms with a partner who totally digs the same thing that they do. But sex with children?
Nope.
Nobody is down for that. Well, sadly, I need to rephrase that, clearly, too many people are. Which is why I think we need to be making MORE laws to PROTECT CHILDREN. Not simply hand them over to perverts. What is wrong with our world? How can we punish adults for loving one another, yet set up “get out of jail free” cards for the fucking pedophiles trying to hide behind their God. I for one don’t believe that there is a single God out there who is for children having to be married to adults in His name.
The only thing that brings this Momma Bear any comfort on days like today is that I fully believe that God is love. I completely and wholeheartedly believe that there is a special place in hell for people who abuse innocent children, or who beat/punish and torture consenting adults.
And this my friends is how I sleep at night.
